Environmental Justice is Racial Justice

Being a member of the Earth community, means acknowledging that we are occupying unceded Native land. It is to acknowledge that Cicero is on the ancestral homelands of the Council of the Three Fires, the Ojibwe, Odawa, Potawatomi, Chippewa, Kickapoo, Miami, and Illini peoples.

This land is indebted to all members of the Black diaspora, who reside within a vast cultural expanse. The labor of the Black community is foundational and invaluable to our collective history.

Black and Native communities have cared for, labored, nurtured, and understood this land long before Chicagolands conception. This collective experience informs the viable understanding of nature and medicine as we have come to know it. We encourage you to make your reparations accordingly.

We are community.

Our leadership team is intergenerational, LGBTQ-friendly, and made up entirely of folks living in Cicero. Click below to join the fam!
